Privacy policy

This policy covers aalisoft.com and the project enquiries we receive through it. We have tried to describe what actually happens rather than reserve every right we could. If anything here is unclear, ask us through the contact form.

The short version

• This site sets no cookies of its own, and there is no advertising or tracking network on it.
• The contact form does not send anything to us by itself. It opens a message in your own email application, which you then choose to send or discard.
• Our web fonts are served from our own server, so loading a page contacts no font provider.
• We do not sell personal data, and we never will.

What the site collects

Server and network logs. Our web server and Cloudflare, which sits in front of it, record ordinary request information: the IP address, the browser user agent, the page requested and the time. These logs exist to keep the site online and to investigate abuse or faults. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not combined with anything else.

Aggregate analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages are read and roughly where readers arrive from. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. We see totals, not individuals.

Nothing else. We set no cookies, store nothing in your browser, and run no advertising, heatmap, session recording or social media tracking code. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie to block automated abuse; that is a security measure, not analytics.

What happens to a project enquiry

The contact form asks for your name and email address, and optionally a phone number, a company name, what you need built and a budget range. Submitting it composes a message in your own email application. Nothing reaches us until you send it, and if you close that message we never see it at all.

Once you do send it, the enquiry arrives as ordinary email. It is routed by Cloudflare Email Routing and stored in a Google mailbox, so those two companies process it on our behalf in the same way they would any email. We use what you tell us to reply, to scope the work and, if we go ahead, to run the project. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your details to anyone else.

We keep enquiry emails for as long as they are commercially useful, and records of work we were paid for for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask us to delete an enquiry at any time.

Who else is involved

Three companies process data on our behalf, each for a specific job: Cloudflare, for serving and protecting the site, cookieless analytics and email routing; Google, for the mailbox that receives enquiries; and our hosting provider, which runs the server the site is served from. Personal data may be processed outside the country you live in, which is normal for any internet service.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it. In practice, for almost everyone reading this, the only thing we hold is an email you chose to send us.

To exercise any of these, write to us through the contact form. We will respond within 30 days, and normally within one business day. If you are in the UK or the EU and are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

Work we do for clients

When we build or maintain software for a client, any personal data inside that system belongs to the client, who decides what is collected and why. We handle it only to do the work we were engaged for, under whatever agreement is in place. This policy covers aalisoft.com, not our clients' products.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly broaden what we collect and leave the date untouched.
